MENTORSHIP AND AFRICA REVOLUTION

The Mentormorphosis – Evolution of hybrid leaders’ conference was phenomenon. The conference which took place at the prestigious Triedent Suites Ikeja, Lagos Nigeria on the 15h of November 2015 assembled renowned mentors and speakers who graced the occasion and shared their thoughts on Mentorship and African Revolution. At the kick off of the Mentormorphosis Conference, the President of Faithgane Foundation David Osiri gave his welcome address. He spoke about the vision of the Foundation and the purpose for the Mentormorphosis conference. He stated that for more to be accomplished in engaging the youths through job creations and empowerment programmes, there is need to introduce mentorship to the overall objectives, adding that there can be no inclusive economic growth in any society without empowerment driven by mentorship. He noted that the failure of any leadership is the result of the lack of mentorship.

The Secretary General of the foundation Owen Iyiewuare while giving his speech on the programs of the organization said that the foundation have developed workable initiatives that can guarantee transformation at all sectors of the economy. He said it was possible because when you talk about mentorship, what you are referring to is “People Development”. And when you set up deliberate programs for the purpose of developing the potential of individuals, you are able to accelerate growth and increase demographic dividends. He also emphasized the need for adequate governance at community levels, stating that the quality of governance can be traced to the level of its community mentoring.

While addressing the eager-to-learn participants, the Agric business Strategist and a Mentor of no mean repute Sotonye Anga, noted that Mentors are humans and as such Mentees should learn to listen with their eyes and ears, ask questions and be willing to follow through.

Aleele Paago who also spoke at the Mentormorphosis Conference mentioned that the youths are the force of Africa. He also referred to the youths as Africa’s only assets and noted that Africa reformation is only possible when the youths are empowered with the right information.
